In addition to serving as an associate clinical professor and Dental Hygiene program director at Texas Woman’s, Charlene Dickinson has taken on a new role in an initiative aimed at improving community health.

As a member of the Texas Health Community Impact Denton/Wise Leadership Council, Dickinson takes an active role in addressing health disparities in communities within Denton and Wise counties. The Denton/Wise council recently was awarded $1.3 million from Texas Health, which council members will use to award funding to organizations with strategies to address disparities in the region.

“I enjoy being on this board,” Dickinson said. “It has been exciting being part of a body of individuals who chose areas and organizations that need funding for community efforts in Denton and Wise counties.
