Dance GTA spends summer teaching in Brazil

Juliana Azoubel, a graduate teaching assistant (Dance, Denton), spent the summer teaching dance masterclasses and workshops for the School of Grupo Corpo in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Her students included dance professionals of the Grupo Corpo, one of the most renowned dance companies in Brazil. The classes were part of an ongoing partnership between the Corpo Escola de Danca and Azoubel’s research projects.

Azoubel is a professor of Dance at the Federal University of Minas Gerais, the artistic director for the Grupo Aruanda and the Grupo Pontos de Contato, in Belo Horizonte, and is currently working toward her PhD at Texas Woman’s while teaching dance and globalization classes for the Division of Dance. She will teach a dance workshop and present her research at the Dance Studios Association 2022 Conference scheduled Oct. 13-16 in Vancouver and at the National Dance Education Association 2022 Conference slated Oct. 28-31 in Atlanta.
