A new university policy allows eligible Texas Woman’s employees to donate their sick leave hours to a TWU colleague who has exhausted their own sick leave accruals.
A sick leave donation to another employee is different from a donation of hours to the sick leave pool — the sick leave donation is another option to assist employees who have exhausted their available sick leave to remain in a paid leave status and allow time off to recover from an illness or injury.
Under the sick leave donation policy, the time donated can be used for pregnancy and many other conditions. Donors should note that if the condition is not considered a medical emergency, the cash value of the donated sick leave is taxable to the donor.
