Vittrup, Norton to assume interim roles

Brigitte Vittrup, PhD, and Aaron Norton, PhD, have agreed to serve in interim roles with an official start date of July 1, 2024.

Vittrup, chair of Human Development, Family Studies and Counseling, will serve as interim dean of the College of Professional Education in place of outgoing dean Lisa Huffman, PhD, while the university conducts a national search for a permanent dean. In addition to department chair, Vittrup serves as chair of TWU’s Council of Chairs, and in that capacity, sits on the university’s Academic Council.

Norton, an associate professor of marriage and family therapy, will serve as interim chair of the Department of Human Development, Family Studies and Counseling while Vittrup serves as interim dean. Norton is currently program director of Marriage and Family Therapy and is a 2023-24 Provost’s Fellow.

A search committee for the permanent dean will be formed and a search firm selected within the coming months, which will allow the search firm to complete the preliminary steps of the search during the spring and early summer and place the college on the forefront of the 2024-25 hiring cycle.
