TWU hosts Fit2Lead Camp

TWU hosted 30 junior and senior high school young women from various schools in the Young Women's Preparatory Network at the 2024 Fit2Lead Leadership and Wellness Camp.

Students from Irma Range in Dallas, Ann Richards in Austin, Young Women's Leadership Academy San Antonio, Fort Worth, and Margaret Talkington in Lubbock gathered for this year's camp.

Curriculum and Strategic Initiatives thanks the various departments that assisted with providing sessions:

  • Career Connections provided "Building a Resume as a High School Student" and facilitated a vision board session.
  • Student Nutrition and Food Sciences conducted "Mindful Eating" while learning how to eat nutritious meals with fruit.
  • With student volunteers, the Center for Student Leadership facilitated a student leadership lunch panel.
  • YWPN students participated in the "Tote-ally Awesome DIY Makeup and Tote Bags" with Student Union Programming, and the young women were able to play in the gaming lounge and enjoyed the open gym in the Fitness and Recreation Center.
  • The Jane Nelson Institute for Women's Leadership (JNIWL) and its Center for Women in Government (CWG) led a scavenger hunt through the Bancroft Women's Leadership Exhibit.

Special thanks to Aimee Myers, PhD, for closing the Fit2Lead Camp.
