A book co-written by Marie Tietze (nursing) has won an award from the American Journal of Nursing.

“Nursing Informatics for the Advanced Practice Nurse: Patient Safety, Quality, Outcomes, and Interprofessionalism,” which Tietze wrote with Susan McBride (director of the master’s in informatics program at Texas Tech), was named the AJN Book of The Year in the informatics category. The awards honor exceptional digital and print texts for advancing healthcare quality.

This is the second edition of the book, published by Springer Publishing. The first edition received the AJN Book of the Year Award in informatics in 2016.

Tietze and McBride currently are working on their third book, this time with Tietze as the primary author. They are joined by Annette Sobel, an associate professor at Texas Tech medical school and nursing school. The book is for all health professions with the same focus on interprofessional informatics practice but explicitly integrating polarity thinking and highly-functioning team approaches to the content application.
