Student, faculty awarded grant to investigate access to rehabilitation

A Houston doctoral student and three faculty members from the School of Physical Therapy at the Houston Center were awarded a grant to investigate access to rehabilitation within the state of Texas. The award is subcontracted from the University of Pittsburgh on a grant from Brown University.

PhD student Madeline Ratoza, associate professor Rupal M. Patel, PhD; professor Wayne Brewer, PhD and associate director Katy Mitchell, PhD received a grant of $25,000 for their project titled "Modeling Rehabilitation Provider Shortage with Population Data as a Pilot Study in Texas."

Researchers will use secondary analysis of publicly available datasets and geospatial analysis to determine areas of physical therapy provider shortage within Texas.
