Houston Happenings 4-24-19

  • TWU’s Food Scholarship Program, a partnership between TWU and the Houston Food Bank, was featured at the organization’s 19th Annual Chef’s Dinner April 17. A video highlighting faculty member Carolyn Moore, who spearheaded the program at TWU, and nutrition and food sciences students Dominique Guinn and Torrey Alexis, was shown at the dinner. Kudos to all!
  • The Bright and Beautiful Therapy Dogs of Houston will be on campus noon to1 p.m., Monday, April 29, in the lobby. Come greet the canines and talk with trainers/owners of certified therapy dogs to learn all aspects of what therapy dogs can bring to educational and health care settings.
  • Faculty and staff can get stressed over final exams, too, so join Finals Breaks May 3-8 in the Academic Resource Center, room 4132. Enjoy a soothing cup of coffee or a calming cup of hot tea and learn more about the information resources available in TWU libraries.
  • Marilyn Goff (library) was a panelist for “Changing Roles in Academic Libraries, Part I: The Scholarly Communications Librarian” at the annual Texas Library Association meeting April 15-18 at the Austin Convention Center. The panel discussed the new role of librarians in open educational resources and in helping faculty publish their work in high-quality peer-reviewed publications.
