  • Barbara Lerner (undergraduate studies and academic partnerships) received a Catalyst Award from the National Institute for the Study of Transfer Students for her work on behalf of transfer students. The award was presented during the organization's annual conference Feb. 7-9 in Atlanta.
  • Sylvia Vardell (library and information studies) has been named the Texas Library Association's Member of the Month.
  • Several TWU psychologists and alumni played an important part in this year's Texas University and College Counseling Centers Conference Feb. 8-9 at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. Carmen Cruz (Counseling and Psychological Services) was elected keynote speaker. Cruz also presented a session with Marshall Bewley(Counseling and Psychological Services) and TWU alumna Ellen Greenwald. Presentation titles are available in the conference programDenise Lucero-Miller and Martha Bergen (both from Counseling and Psychological Services) served on the conference planning committee.
  • An article, "The Effects of the Warrior Transition Units' Physical Activity Program on Affect of Wounded Military Personnel, "written by Ronald Davis (kinesiology), TWU alumnus Gwan Yon Hwang and Simon Driver of Baylor Rehabilitation Dallas, was published in the journal PALAESTRA.
  • Christopher Bolinger (communication sciences and disorders) was awarded second place for oral papers at the United Kingdom Swallow Research Group meeting, held Feb. 1-2 in London. His presentation was titled "The relationship between speech-language pathology consults and patients hospitalized with pneumonia."
