  • Reminder: Shuttle service to and from both the North Remote Parking Lot (Frame Street/University Drive) and the Denton Bible Church Remote Parking Lot (2300 E. University Dr.) is suspended through Monday, Jan. 15.Shuttle service for both lots will resume Tuesday, Jan. 16. If you need assistance or have questions, contact the TWU Department of Public Safety at x2911.
  • Volunteers are needed to staff information tables to help welcome students to campus and answer any questions they may have. Sign up for a time slot or two (or more). If you have information to hand out at the tables, get 200 copies to ACT 12 by Friday, Jan. 12. Questions? Contact Nora Sierra.
  • Faculty and staff can receive $10 off the cost of dance classes at the Community Dance Center. Use the code Spring10 when registering through the center's website. Classes begin Jan. 20.
  • Come spend your lunch hour with Pioneers Basketball as the team takes on Lone Star Conference opponent Tarleton State at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 11 in the Kitty Magee Arena in Pioneer Hall. A Schlotzksy's boxed lunch will be given to the first 150 TWU faculty and staff. All TWU faculty and staff will be eligible to enter contests with various prizes, including $5,000 cash. Admission to the game is free for faculty and staff with a valid TWU ID, as well as three additional guests.
  • Join the 2017 USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Champion Pioneers gymnastics team as they receive their championship rings in a ceremony at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13 in the MCL Auditorium.
  • Jake Blosser (history) was elected vice president (and president-elect) of Phi Alpha Theta National History Honor Society at the society's biennial national convention Jan. 5 in New Orleans.
  • Bobby Lothringer (registrar) will present the Best of the Best Session at the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers Annual Conference March 25-28 in Orlando, Florida. The presentation was included in the Best of the Best Session Award Lothringer won at the 2017 Texas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officersannual conference in South Padre.
  • Erin Russell has been named interim adviser for the Lasso student newspaper for Spring 2018. As a TWU student, Russell worked on both the Lassoand the Daedalian, TWU's literary journal. For the past eight years, she has served as adviser for the Brookhaven Courierthe student newspaper for Brookhaven College.
  • A paper titled "Rural-to-Uban Migration, Strain, and Juvenile Delinquency: A Study of Eighth-Grade Students in Guangzhou, China," written by Celia Lo (sociology), Texas Woman's sociology doctoral graduate Maggie Bohm, Tyrone C. Cheng and Hua (Sara) Zhong recently was published in the International Journal of Offender Therapy and Comparative Criminology62(2):334-359. Lo and Cheng also co-wrote "A Longitudinal Analysis of Factors Associated with Therapeutic Alliance," which was published online Jan. 9 in the Community Mental Health Journal.
