  • Sharon Van Sell (nursing) was honored by the City of Dallas Civil Service Commission with an award for five years of outstanding service. The award recognized her leadership and expertise, as well as her focus on measurable outcomes, reduction in time to hire and expansion of recruiting sources focused on the recruitment of veterans.
  • Sharon A. Denham (nursing) gave two presentations — "Providing Chronic Care Management to Individuals and Families" during the School of Nursing International Week, and "Using the Family Health Model to Provide Family-Focused Care" for the International Conference: Family Health Over Lifespan" — on Feb. 6 and 9, respectively, at Hanzehogeschool University of Applied Sciences in Groningen, The Netherlands. Denham also was invited to tour the Hanzehogeschool University Hospital and spoke with nurses from surgical areas about ways to implement patient and family-engaged units and practices.
  • More than 200 people attended the School of Occupational Therapy’s 25th Annual Vanderkooi Endowed Lectureship. The event included workshops, fieldwork educator training, student directed “Knowledge Translation” presentations and posters and the keynote lecture from Thomas Fisher on “Higher Education’s Role in the Future of US Healthcare.”
