  • The Dallas Staff Council recently hosted its fall event, Aqua Frescas & Fruit, alongside the second annual Staff Pumpkin Contest. All staff members enjoyed a healthy fruit mix with flavored waters, then voted for their favorite creative pumpkin. Winners were John Humphrey (library), first place, with his Jack Skellington Pumpkin; Kimberly Richardson (library), second, with her Homecoming Pumpkin; and Cynthia Alexander (occupational therapy), third, with her Venus Flytrap Little Shop of Horrors Pumpkin. All pumpkins entered in the contest are on display in the sixth-floor computer lab until Halloween.

  • Congratulations to Mari Tietze (nursing) for being inducted as a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing at the Transforming Health, Driving Policy Conference held Oct. 24-26 in Washington, D.C. Polly Bednash, a 1960 nursing graduate, was recognized as a Living Legend at the event.
  • Tina Fletcher (occupational therapy) was the keynote speaker at the 2019 Taiwan International Forum on Children and Museums Oct. 25-26. In her presentation, “The Museum Experience for children with Autism,” Fletcher spoke about promoting museum engagement and participation in children with autism using sensory strategies, environmental supports and curriculum development.
