  • The TWU Dallas library has been selected in a competitive application process to host Native Voices: Native People’s Concepts of Health and Illness for six weeks during the exhibition’s nationwide tour. The exhibition is on display Oct. 9-Nov. 20 in the library, and a welcome reception is scheduled at 4 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 15, with guest speaker Annette Anderson, Council for the Indigenous Institute of the Americas. The Native Voices exhibit explores the interconnectedness of wellness, illness and cultural life for Native Americans, Alaska Natives and Native Hawaiians.
  • Staff Council Dallas recognizes the Dallas physical therapy and occupational therapy staff for the month of October, stating they “are dedicated to assisting their faculty and students in an efficient and accurate manner, creating smooth work flow systems.” Dallas Staff Council highlights different departments each month for their contributions to making TWU a better place to work.
  • Rosemarie Jaekel (nursing) led 31 TWU Senior 2 nursing students as they attended the Dallas Coalition for Hunger Solutions 2019 Dallas Hunger Summit Sept. 13. The students received scholarships provided by the Dallas Coalition for Hunger Solutions to attend the half-day event that focused on creating equitable communities. Jaekel said the keynote address correlated with what the students were learning about the social determinants of health that week.
  • Linda Barnett (occupational therapy) presented a poster, “Spirituality of Caregivers of Children Receiving Occupational Therapy in Early Intervention,” at the Division for Early Childhood’s 35th Annual International Conference on Young Children with Special Needs and Their Families Oct. 4 in Dallas.
