Webers establish excellence fund

Cindy Green Weber, PhD ’86, ’91 made a family decision to support TWU in August 2024. Joined by her husband, Tony and her daughter, Alexandra McGowen, the Webers created the Dr. Cindy Green Weber Excellence Fund.

Weber received her undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University and her MS and PhD degrees in nutrition from Texas Woman's University. She has been an assistant professor at Texas Christian University and a professional speaker, teaching more than 20,000 medical professionals throughout the country. She is also a private pilot that has landed her plane in all 50 U.S. states and six countries.

Combining her passion for aviation with her appreciation of Texas Woman's University, Weber made a gift to the Doswell School of Aeronautical Sciences that will allow the new school to purchase, operate and maintain a full motion flight simulator.

“Flight schools do everything possible to limit the overall cost of training,” said Clint Grant, the director of the Doswell School of Aeronautical Sciences. “However, it’s a fact that aircraft operations are an expensive endeavor and they’re not getting cheaper.”

Grant added: “Fortunately, the FAA allows some of the required flight hours to be conducted in approved Flight Training Devices, often referred to as 'simulators.' The Redbird MCX is a state-of-the-art full motion trainer. It is truly an incredibly generous donation for TWU students that will save them thousands of dollars in training costs toward their pilot certifications and ratings.”
