TWU professor creates scholarship for students in human resources

Derek Crews, EdD, a Management professor at Texas Woman's University and workforce development consultant, has created an annual scholarship aimed at supporting either an undergraduate or graduate student seeking a degree with an emphasis on Human Resource Management as offered through the TWU College of Business.

The recipient must maintain a 3.25 GPA, and show commitment to HR as an active member of TWU's student chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (TWU SHRM).

The purpose of this scholarship is to channel all royalties earned from TWU courses into providing scholarships for outstanding students who demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence and the HR profession. The scholarship further solidifies Crews' dedication to supporting students in their pursuit of excellence, and aligns with TWU's commitment to foster the next generation of leaders.

Crews earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in Business Administration at the University of North Texas, and his doctorate in Business Education at Nova Southeastern University. He is a certified Master Trainer for AchieveGlobal and Development Dimensions International, and is a certified trainer for Extended DISC.

Crews has also published numerous articles in academic journals and authored two textbooks published by FlatWorld, "Mastering Human Resource Management" and "Principles of Talent Development," both adopted by the TWU College of Business for use in the classroom.
