The Dorothy Antoinette LaSelle Foundation, Inc. has established the Dorothy Antoinette LaSelle Foundation Grant Fund for Visual Arts Mural Projects at Texas Woman’s University, including annual support for TWU’s Visual Arts Fund. The new fund will aid mural project initiatives, fostering creativity, community engagement and the celebration of the arts on the Denton campus.
These gifts are in honor of Dorothy Antoinette “Toni” LaSelle (1901–2002), an American modernist born in Nebraska, who taught art and design at Texas Woman’s from 1928 to 1972. A student of Modernism influenced by Post-Impressionism and Cubism, LaSelle studied and promoted emerging artistic concepts and contributed significantly to the university’s creative legacy during her tenure.
TWU’s mural efforts showcase the talents of students and local artists, reflecting the rich cultural diversity and dynamic spirit of Texas Woman’s. The Dorothy Antoinette LaSelle Foundation, Inc. honors LaSelle’s legacy through this gift and will enrich the experience of TWU visual arts students.
