Alumna Jackie Taylor Switzer ’90 and her husband Wayne Switzer both believed in the positive impact of receiving a college education. They both worked while earning their degrees and persevered to graduate.
Jackie pursued her nursing studies through night and summer courses. With the support of her family and friends, she graduated from Texas Woman’s with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1990 at the age of 49. Jackie graduated alongside what she described as “a diverse group of graduates who supported each other through a microcosm of life events — births, deaths, marriages, divorces, illnesses — in our time at TWU.”
This scholarship, with a preference for non-traditional students, will help others like Jackie fulfill their dream of becoming a nurse no matter their stage in life.
