She was a sprinter on the Texas Woman’s University Track and Field team in the 1970s. And now, as a member of the TWU System Board of Regents, Ellen Amirkhan is again showing support for student- athletes.
Earlier this month, Amirkhan met with Chancellor Carine Feyten to sign an agreement for a generous planned gift to the TWU athletics department. The gift establishes the Ellen Amirkhan Athletics Program Endowment, which will be used to support sports programs at Texas Woman’s.
"Some of my fondest memories at Texas Woman’s were competing as a student-athlete," Amirkhan said. “So it is very meaningful to me that I give something back to help support future student-athletes at TWU. It is my hope that this gift inspires others to contribute ― especially my fellow track alumni. I want our student-athletes to know that the alumni and the regents are so inspired by their dedication and success."
