TWU to dedicate the Jimmie Lyn Harris Children's Collection

The TWU Community is invited to the Mary Evelyn Blagg-Huey Library on Tues., April 12, from 2:30-3:30 p.m., for the dedication of the Jimmie Lyn Harris Children’s Collection.

TWU’s Children’s Collection comprises more than 58,000 books in more than 30 languages. In 2020, the collection was designated and renamed in honor of Jimmie Lyn Harris ’80, MS ’88. Harris was a beloved member of the TWU Libraries staff who passed away in 2020. She served as the children’s librarian and as the subject specialist librarian for multicultural women’s and gender studies.

The Jimmie Lyn Harris Program Endowment, which benefits the Children’s Collection, was created by Harris’ sister, Starla Knapp, and fully funded in 2021. The endowment will distribute for the first time during the 2022-23 academic year and will provide funding for the acquisition of new children’s books, program support and staff training.

Light refreshments will be served during the dedication celebration. An RSVP is requested by Wednesday, April 6. Call 940-898-3866 if you have questions.
