The Children’s Collection in the TWU Libraries is getting a new name in honor of one of the library’s longest serving employees.

Chancellor Carine Feyten has designated the Children’s Collection to be named the Jimmie Lyn Harris Children’s Collection in recognition of 40 years of service by Harris, who passed away April 9, 2020. A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.

Harris began working for the TWU Libraries in 1980, and most recently served as the children’s librarian as well as the subject specialist librarian for multicultural women’s and gender studies.

Harris’ family has established the Jimmie Lyn Harris Program Endowment for the TWU Children’s Collection with the TWU Foundation. To make a gift in her memory, visit twu.edu/giving, select “Other” in the drop-down box, then type “Jimmie Lyn Harris.”
