Judith McFarlane, DrPH (Professor, College of Nursing, Houston) has been awarded funding from the American Rescue Plan Act 2021 (Pub. Law 117-2), emanating from coronavirus state and local recovery funds, designated to increase child resiliency of youth living with their mothers in domestic violence shelters in Harris County.
To forward best programs to increase child resiliency, McFarlane applied to test a trauma-informed, evidence-based, 32-week intervention to increase resiliency of the abused mother-child dyad. The 18-month research was awarded in January 2025 and will conclude in June 2026. TWU funding is $89,064. McFarlane will be sharing findings with the TWU community.
