While many of our students and faculty take a break during Spring Break next week, so will the TWU website.
Currently the website is hosted on a server on the Denton campus. The TWU Web Team and IT Solutions have been working on a project to move this website to a cloud environment. The culmination of this project will result in a temporary “freeze” on all website publishing starting noon, Friday, March 5, through end of day Friday, March 12.
“There are many benefits to moving the website to a cloud-based server,” said Scott Bynum, University Web Communications director. “Visitors to the website will be able to access the information in their browsers more quickly. Additionally, it will be easier to keep our web system up-to-date or resolve issues that may arise. From an emergency management perspective, it’s also better to host the server offsite so the website isn’t impacted during catastrophic events such as the winter storm experienced a few weeks ago.”
During the website freeze, no one will be able to make updates to the website as those with access will not be able to log into the content management system, TerminalFour. In the event there is an urgent update, members of the TWU community should contact the Web Team at webteamrequest@twu.edu to see what can be done to accommodate the request.
During the transition and afterward, people visiting the website will not notice a difference in how the website looks or operates.
