Are you an author in search of a publisher? Help is on the way!
Jessica Gullion (sociology) and Amanda Zerangue (library) will lead a webinar, “Writing a Book Proposal and Negotiating a Book Contract,” at 1 p.m., Friday, Feb. 26. Registration for the Zoom event is due by 1 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 25.
Gullion and Zerangue will discuss how to write a proposal for book publishers and what to look for in a book contract when you receive an offer.
Gullion has published seven books with the MIT Press, Routledge, Brill/Sense and Cognella. She currently has contracts with Oxford University Press and Guilford Press for books in progress. Gullion will discuss what belongs in a book proposal and how to pitch it to acquisitions editors.
Zerangue supports TWU authors throughout the publication process by providing guidance on copyright, authors' rights and the publication contract. She will discuss language typically found in book publication agreements, specific terms and conditions to be aware of and how to negotiate the terms of your contract.
The webinar is offered through the College of Arts and Sciences, the library, the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs and the Center for Research Design and Analysis.
