Speakers announced for 'Leading the Lone Star State'

Women from the fields of politics, journalism and more have been announced as speakers for the “Leading the Lone Star State: Texas Women in Public Service” summit.

The summit, hosted by the Jane Nelson Institute for Women’s Leadership, will take place Thursday, Oct. 12 at the Denton Convention Center. Registration is $150.

Featured speakers are:

  • Val Demings, former Florida congresswoman
  • Ambassador Kay Bailey Hutchison, former U.S. permanent representative to NATO and former U.S. senator from Texas
  • Lisa Ling, Emmy Award-winning journalist
  • Ana Navarro, political analyst, panelist on “The View”
  • Jane Nelson, Texas Secretary of State
  • Symone Sanders-Townsend, host of SYMONE on MSNBC

Session topics include:

  • Organizational Politics: Play or Get Played
  • State of the Union: Political Women in Texas
  • She Leads: Women Empowering the Next Generation
  • Diverse Voices, United Impact: Women of Color in Public Service
