Parking barricades going up

Construction of the new Science Technology and Learning Center (STLC), to be located at the corner of Bell Avenue and Texas Street, will begin soon, and it will be necessary to fence off the parking lot as well as several angled spaces along Old Main Drive. TWU DPS will set up barricades the evening of Thursday, Jan. 24, in preparation for the construction fencing installation to begin Friday, Jan. 25.

An additional 17 parking spaces along Old Main Drive will be affected by the project, and TWU DPS will arrange barricades Sunday, Feb. 10 for construction fencing in that vicinity to be installed Monday, Feb. 11. Notice will be given to the university before the sidewalks alongside Bell Avenue and Texas Street are taken offline and two-way traffic on Old Main Drive will be maintained, though detours will reroute traffic at various times during the project. Please be observant of barricades and signage when walking or driving in designated areas and do not enter construction fencing.

The STLC project is scheduled to be completed by Summer 2020. Contact Alex Thomas, director of planning and design services, if you have questions.

Remember: Other parking options are available, both throughout campus and remotely. More information on all parking locations for the Denton campus can be found on the TWU website, including possible spaces still available at the Oakland Complex and remote parking and shuttle service.
