Pamela Gonzales (Nursing, Dallas), Vi Ho (Nursing, Houston), Rosalie Mainous (Provost’s Office, Denton), and 20 nursing students spent part of their summer visiting hospitals and clinics in Lima, Peru.
Students conducted a PICO (Patients/Population Intervention, Comparison and Outcomes) presentation in health issues at the International Conference hosted by the University of Maria Auxiliadora. The students also worked with nursing students from the University of Lima to conduct population health assessments, blood pressure screenings, mosquito control, and vaccinations to promote health and disease prevention.

to a health fair, where they performed health needs assessments
and vaccinations.

Students also conducted a poster presentation at a conference.
