'Jeopardy!' puts spotlight on Texas Woman's

Texas Woman’s University and Denton got national exposure thanks to the “Jeopardy!” game show.

The show presents clues in the form of an answer and requires contestants to respond with the correct question. On Jan. 28, one of the clues in the “Rhyming Road Trips” category read, “It’s quite a trek from the capital of New Jersey to the city that’s home to Texas Woman’s University.” The correct response: “What is Trenton to Denton?”

Kyle Voyles (Center for Student Development, Denton) was watching and snapped a photo, and faculty, staff, and alumni shared the news on social media. It also generated thousands of views on the university’s social media channels.

The show has provided exposure for TWU to potentially millions of viewers. According to EW.com, “Jeopardy has averaged 9.2 million total viewers across the 2021-22 season so far … to make it the most-watched show on broadcast or cable for the season.”
