  • Michael Mistric (nursing) is a featured artist, along with collaborative artist Richard Brian, at Archway Gallery during the month of August. His show, “Pictura-Ferramento: A Duet for Painting and Iron Work,” will run through Aug. 30.
  • Ann Malecha (nursing) has been appointed to the newly created City of Sugar Land Independent Ethics Review Board. The goal of the board is to ensure the highest level of transparency for citizens.
  • TWU Houston welcomes Derek Miketinas as a new Nutrition & Food Sciences faculty member. Miketinas earned his degrees in nutrition, including his Ph.D., from LSU. Most recently, he was employed by the renowned Pennington Biomedical Research Center as a research assistant. His current research is on nutritional epidemiology and studying predictors of weight loss, and is in the beginning stages of studying branch chain amino acids and their effect on liver cancer. He will begin this year teaching research techniques for health sciences.
  • Peggy Landrum (nursing) will serve on the discussion panel as the TMC Health Policy Institute releases the results of their 4th annual national survey from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12 at Third Coast Restaurant. The survey, which provides insight into the public’s perception of health policy issues, aims toward shedding light on how the views of everyday citizens could shape health policy decisions of the future. The event is free to the public and includes complimentary hors d’oeuvres. However, you must RSVP to attend.
