  • All staff members are welcome to the Staff Council meeting Thursday, Sept. 12, in room 6305. Stop by 9-10 a.m. for coffee and a doughnut or bagel and meet your Staff Council representative. The meeting begins 10 a.m., with guest speaker David Sweeten, director of the Student Union and Conference Services, who will talk about the features and spaces of the new Student Union on the Denton campus.
  • Alicia Lohmann (occupational therapy) accompanied students in her occupational therapy tools and computer technology class to an engineering design competition at Rice University over Labor Day Weekend. Thirty-nine TWU students partnered with Rice University students for OEDK (Oshman Engineering Design Kitchen) Innovate BUILDRice 2019, in which teams competed to design, prototype and present the best assistive device to serve those with disabilities. TWU students involved on the second-place design team included Mary Margaret Alston, MariJo Russell and Morgan LaHaye. Students involved in the second-place team included Pauline Encarnacion and Anthony Bui.
  • Melissa Rodriguez (admissions) hosted the first-ever TWU & UNT Counselor Update Sept. 6 in Houston. Eighteen counselors from high schools throughout Houston attended the event attended the event to learn more about the two universities. According to Rodriguez, the event generated requests for additional presentations this fall.
