Houston Happenings 3-7-18

  • College of Nursing faculty members Peggy Landrum and Robin Toms along with consultant Patricia Yoder-Wise, took Ph.D. and DNP students to the capitol in Austin as part of the “Power, Policy and Politics” course. Their visit coincided with Chancellor Feyten’s presentation to members of the Texas Legislature, and the group was able to sit in while she expressed appreciation to the committee for their financial commitment and support of TWU.
  • It was a full house for the 2018 Parry Distinguished Lectureship, a collaborative endeavor of the Parry Endowment, TWU Houston’s Nelda C. Stark College of Nursing and Sigma Theta Tau International, Beta Beta Houston, held Thursday, March 1. Speaker Lynda Wilson, Ph.D., RN, spoke on “Nursing Leadership to Promote Global and Planetary Health.”
  • Under the coordination of Alicia Lohmann (occupational therapy) and with the assistance of several OT students, TWU Houston hosted the TIRR Memorial Hermann International Neurologic Music Therapy Certification course Thursday, Feb. 22, through Sunday, Feb. 25.
  • Mentored by occupational therapy faculty member Francie Baxter, OT Ph.D. student Ingrid Franc published a paper "Balancing Act: Documenting sitting balance in acute care" in OT Practice, Vol 23, Issue 19, Feb 19, 2018.
