Group's first drive nets food for Houston students

The first-ever fall Student Food Drive provided 17 bags of food for students in need on TWU’s Houston campus. Sheranda Fesler (nursing adjunct, Dallas), membership chair of Sigma Beta Beta Houston, and Sabrenda Littles (nursing, Houston), Sigma Beta Beta Houston president, coordinated with Deborah Unruh (student life, Houston) to collect food donations for food insecure students on the Houston campus.

Beta Beta Houston members were asked to drop off nonperishable donations for packaging and distribution to students. Veronica Bagley, S2 nursing student and newly inducted Beta Beta Houston member and student ambassador, recruited newly inducted Beta Beta Houston members to help with packaging donations.

“We know the COVID-19 pandemic has had a strain on our student community, so we wanted to do something positive and special to start them off strong as they physically return to campus,” Fesler said.

Donation collection will continue through Nov. 30. Contact Fesler if you’re interested in making a donation.
