If you have a master’s degree and would like to contribute to a critical step in retention efforts at Texas Woman’s, consider teaching a UNIV 1231 (First Year Experience) section in fall 2022.
UNIV 1231 uses research and theory of learning, cognition, and motivation, along with the application of learning strategies, to positively influence college student success.
Instructors for UNIV 1231 are paid $1,000 per course, but it is in addition to your normal workload. Requirements include:
You must hold at least a master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education (Conferred by June 1, 2022, for verification if a new degree)
Time expectation is teaching in person for one hour per week, class preparation (and learning the material to be taught), and meeting with students during Welcome Week
Professional development once in the summer and monthly during the year (for one hour during lunch)
The UNIV Instructor Application is now online via SharePoint, on workflow.twu.edu under Undergraduate Studies. (The application must be completed even if you’ve previously taught UNIV 1231.) You will be prompted to log in with your TWU credentials. Once you complete the application you should receive an email confirming the submission.
Contact Becky Fredrickson, UNIV 1231 coordinator, at rfredrickson@twu.edu or 940-898-2238 if you have any questions.
