  • Stay warm and show your pride with some cold-weather TWU gear. It’s on sale today (Nov. 14) and Thursday, Nov. 15 at the Campus Store. Sale items include sweatshirts, beanies, long-sleeved T-shirts and fleece jackets, as well as drinkware and some graduation items. Faculty, staff and students get a 25 percent discount. If you can’t make it this week, mark your calendar for the Faculty/Staff Appreciation Sale Dec. 11-12. Faculty and staff will receive a 25 percent discount on any item in the store, excluding textbooks.
  • Mark your calendars for the Chancellor’s Holiday Party from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Dec. 5 in the Ann Stuart Science Complex (ASSC) lobby. Festivities will continue after the party as we celebrate a beloved TWU landmark. Details to come!
  • Looking for a great holiday gift? The DAR hardcover coffee table book Courage, Charm and Character is available through the Office of Conference Services. The book features 144 pages of biographies of First Ladies of Texas, with historic photos. Save the $11 shipping charge by purchasing the books at the Conference Services office in the Alumni House, 330 E. University Dr. Cost of the book is $54.13, including tax.   • The Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) wants to hear from you! The authority is gathering feedback from its riders about its new proposed fare structure that will launch in January 2019. One significant change is the proposed Educator Discount Fare program, in which faculty, staff and educators of all types would qualify for a 50 percent discount on local and regional fare. Take a quick survey (one question only) by Friday, Nov. 16 to be entered into a drawing for a $50 Amazon gift card.
  • TWU’s Carolyn Becker (Education Abroad) is featured on the NAFSA (National Association of Foreign Student Advisers) website. Becker, who won the organization’s 2018 Rising Star Young Leader Award, had some great things to say about Texas Woman’s. Check out her video!
  • Congratulations to Bobby Lothringer (registrar) on being voted president-elect of the Texas Association of Collegiate Registrars & Admissions Officers, the largest state organization of registrars and admissions personnel. Lothringer will assume the office of TACRAO president for 2019-2020.
  • Rhett Rigby (health promotion and kinesiology) served as faculty advisor to a student team that won the Texas Space Grant Consortium's Design Challenge held in Houston on Monday, Nov. 12. This is the first year TWU has had a team in the competition. Sheri Dragoo (fashion and textiles) helped the team create its prototype, and Diana Elrod and the Center for Student Research provided funding for special computer-aided design software.
