Texas Woman’s University will celebrate
Constitution Day
on Sept. 17 with several events for the TWU and Denton communities. The day also will commemorate the ratification of the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote. All events will be held in the Blagg-Huey Library, including a panel discussion on “What Do Political Parties Do (and How Can I Help?)” with Jayne Howell, Denton County Republican Chair, and Angie Cadena, Denton County Democratic Chair.
The
TWU Staff Council
will meet 10 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 12, in Stoddard Hall room 308. Guest speaker David Sweeten (Student Union, Conference Services) will talk about the features and spaces of the new Student Union. All staff are welcome to attend.
Texas Woman’s University now has a new
drop-in child care service
for students 6:30-9 p.m., Tuesdays through Thursdays, at the Clubhouse in Lowry Woods. The Clubhouse also has an after-school program open to children of TWU faculty and staff, 3-6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Check out

TWU’s Housing and Dining staff will relocate from Jones Hall to their new offices on the first floor of Mary’s Hall in Parliament Village. The move will begin Thursday, Sept. 12, and will continue through Friday, Sept. 13.
During the relocation, all services will be affected and no direct communication with housing and dining staff will be available.
Normal operations will resume 8 a.m., Monday, Sept. 16, in Mary’s Hall.

Congratulations to
Dennis Hoebee
on his new role as director of space management, real estate and assets at TWU. Hoebee has been with the university more than 14 years, beginning in the Office of Technology. In his new role, he will assume responsibility of space management, working closely with the Space Utilization Advisory Committee (SUAC), providing clientele with feasibility, coordination and management of requests and subsequent projects.
Nancy Bocskor
(Center for Women in Politics & Public Policy), a fellow in the Robert J. Dole Institute of Politics, will lead a
fall discussion group series
, “Create Change: Women, Democracy and Global Politics,” beginning Sept. 25 at the institute at the University of Kansas.
Christina Bejarano
(multicultural women’s and gender studies) participated in the annual meetings of the
American Political Science Association
Aug. 30-Sept. 2 in Washington, D.C., on panels titled “Teaching ‘Gender and Politics’ in the Era of #MeToo,” “University Initiatives on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion,” and “Dialogue with Dawson: 25 Years of Linked Fate and the Politics of Group Identity.” Bejarano also serves as the chair of the association’s Women’s Caucus for Political Science.
