  • Get your summer splash on with the TWU community! Faculty, staff, and students are invited to bring their families and friends to enjoy water park attractions 7:30-10:30 p.m., Thursday, July 18, at Water Works Park (2400 Long Rd. Denton, TX 76207). TWU rented the waterpark for this private event. Free access is given to the entire group when one person presents a TWU ID. No pre-registration required. There is no limit on the number of group members. Re-admission available with provided wristband. Sponsored by the Student Union, Fitness and Recreation, and Housing & Dining.
  • Congratulations to Suzanne Burns (occupational therapy) on winning the American Stroke Association/American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine’s 2019 Young Investigator Award in Post-Acute Stroke Rehabilitation. The award recognizes professionals who demonstrate drive and commitment to furthering rehabilitation research in the area of post-stroke care, measurement, and/or stroke patient outcomes. Burns will present the award lecture at the ACRM Annual Conference Nov. 5 in Chicago.
  • Ann Amuta (health studies) published “Two Peas in a Pod? An Exploratory Examination Into Cancer-Related Psychosocial Characteristics and Health Behaviors Among Black Immigrants and African Americans” in Health Education & Behavior, one of the most prestigious journals in public health.
  • Celia Lo (sociology) has co-authored “Collaborative alliance of parent and child-welfare caseworker,” forthcoming in Child Maltreatment, and “Drug Use Behaviors of Turkish Armed Forces Service Members: A Social Control Perspective,” forthcoming in Military Behavioral Health.
