The campus community is invited to attend a presentation and reception for the
Texas First Ladies Historic Gown Collection
at 2 p.m. Friday, June 8 in the Blagg-Huey Library Living Room. The event will be hosted by The Texas Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). In addition to learning more about the project and the organization’s commitment to the university, attendees also will be able to purchase copies of the coffee table book,
Courage, Charm and Character
.
Proceeds from sales support the collection’s preservation and restoration activities. Cost is $50 plus tax, and the book’s author, Martha Ann Hartzog, will be available for signing at the event. Additionally, the group will present the university with gifts for the collection, including a period gown donated by Stephen Porterfield with “Antiques Roadshow.”
Sandra Westmoreland
(biology) will take a team of four pre-service teachers to the
2018 NASA Minority University Research and Education Project’s Educator Institute
June 4-8 at Johnson Space Center in Houston. The program’s goal is to help educators develop practices that will engage students in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
