CSD exploring options for online orientation

In order to provide students with the most interactive orientation experience possible, the Center for Student Development will use a new option for online orientation this fall.

Conduit, also used by the Office of Admissions for Pioneer Preview, is an interactive platform that provides live chat options, live sessions and pre-recorded/semi-live sessions in a TWU-branded environment that will help students and parents immediately feel they are part of the Pioneer family.

Some students will want the on-campus experience, so CSD will provide a safe option with three drive-in dates in July. Transfer students will be on campus July 27, and first-year students will choose between July 30 and July 31.

An expanded Pioneer Camp will take place Aug. 17-23 with in-person and virtual events. The annual Block Party is scheduled Aug. 21, and Student Union personnel and the Block Party committee currently are redesigning the event to ensure the safety of attendees and staff. Additional details will be available closer to the event dates.

If your department or area is interested in hosting a presentation this summer for first-year students, transfer students or parents and families, contact Josh Walton in CSD. Sessions will be recorded in late June through August. The call for volunteers for the Block Party will come later this summer.
