The five divisions of TWU's the School of the Arts & Design – dance, fashion, music, theatre and visual arts – are joining forces to create the Circle of Light, an art-themed festival in and around Pioneer Circle between the Visual Arts Building and the Music Building on Dec. 4.
The evening will culminate in the annual A Very Merry Concert in the Margo Jones Performance Hall in the Music Building at 7:30 p.m. (doors open at 7). The concert incorporates contributions from across the Music Division, including singing from the new Musical Theatre program.
The festival, which is open to the public, will begin with the TWU Jazz Ensemble performing at 5:45.
Fashion & Merchandising will hold a fashion show on the steps of the Music Building at 6 p.m., and will have its lighted fashion exhibits on the grounds near the Pioneer Woman statue.
Theatre will do a reading of O. Henry’s short story “The Gift of the Magi” at 6:20.
Music’s Mariachi ensemble and Dance’s Ballet Folklórico will do a joint performance at 6:40. Dance will also show screen dances from recent MFA students.
Visual Arts will display the works of its Motion Graphics class on a large screen overlooking Pioneer Circle. The Art Education class will sell coloring-book style calendars, and Visual Arts’ BFA exhibits will be open in the east and west galleries in the Visual Arts building.
All events except the concert are free. Tickets to A Very Merry Concert are $10 general admission, $5 for students and seniors, and free for children under 12. Tickets for the concert will soon go on sale online and be available at the door.
There will also be photo booths, lasercut lanterns and hanging ceramic sculptures. Complimentary refreshments will be served.
