Center to host events focusing on women in public service

The Center for Women in Politics & Public Policy, a program of the Jane Nelson Institute for Women’s Leadership, will host a series of workshops and talks aimed at increasing the number of women in leadership and public service.

All events are offered in-person and via Zoom. There is no cost to attend the events, most of which are open to the public.

ABCs of Appointments, Boards, and Commissions will take place 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 30. Guest speakers will provide advice on how to get appointed to a city, county or state board or commission. Learn more and register for the event.

Legislative Spotlight: HB3 Public School Safety will take place 12:20-12:50 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 5. Jerry Burkett, EdD (Teacher Education) will talk about HB3, the public school safety bill passed this year by the Legislature. This event is open to TWU students, faculty, and staff only. ElectHer is scheduled 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 21. The event offers training to women who want to run for office or work on a campaign. Learn more and register for the workshop.
