DFW Child magazine ran a story on “97 Interesting Historical Markers in Dallas-Fort Worth” in its July issue, and two landmarks on TWU’s Denton campus made the cut.
Both the Pioneer Woman statue and the Texas First Ladies Historic Costume Collection are included in the article, which notes that the more than 1,000 registered historic markers in the DFW Metroplex reflect “fascinating women’s history,” among other elements of the region’s past.
The statue also is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
Other TWU Denton historical markers* that did not make the magazine’s list are “The First Building of Texas Woman’s University” (Old Main) and the University Gardens (located adjacent to the Little Chapel-in-the-Woods).
