Texas Woman's University is the beneficiary of a $10,000 grant from the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas, Inc. The grant will help students with basic needs and assist those who are experiencing financial hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. TWU will prioritize these funds for students who are not already eligible for assistance from the federal CARES Act Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund.
The United Way grant follows the successful submission and funding of two additional grant applications to private foundations. The Houston J. and Florence A. Doswell Foundation and the The Kaleta A. Doolin Foundation each provided $50,000 and $75,000, respectively, to the Student Emergency Fund.
Together with individual donations and the Chancellor’s seed funding, more than $344,000 has been raised to support students adversely affected by the pandemic.
