In 2021 TWU was established by the Texas Legislature as the state’s seventh public university system, making it the FIRST in the nation with a woman-focused mission. While there still is organizational and operational restructuring to contend with in the transition to a system, Texas Woman’s is poised to expand programming, accelerate community and corporate partnerships, elevate philanthropy, and have a greater role in preparing Texas’ workforce.

While many colleges and universities are being wrapped into existing university systems across the nation, TWU has made history in this achievement.
