Gift to fund student scholarships

The TWU Foundation has received $25,000 from AccentCare, Inc., to fund undergraduate and graduate student scholarships for the fall 2020 semester.

Four scholarships will be awarded to students enrolled in the bachelor of science in nursing program, three scholarships to graduate students enrolled in the School of Physical Therapy, and three scholarships to students in the School of Occupational Therapy. Students may attend TWU campuses in either Dallas or Houston to qualify for the $2,500 scholarship awards.

Texas Home Health, an AccentCare® Company based in Dallas, is celebrating 50 years of delivering home healthcare to Texas residents. As part of the celebration, this community-oriented company is giving back by establishing the Texas Home Health 50th Anniversary Annual Scholarship for TWU students. Recipients of the scholarship will be residents of the state of Texas.

Texas Home Health was created in 1969 by the late Charline and Sidney (Chief) Dauphin. It began with only three employees serving the town of Silsbee. During the next 31 years, the company grew to serve 27 communities in southeast Texas.

In 2010, AccentCare, Inc. took over the company and has since expanded Texas Home Health in both its footprint and home care service lines.  The company now has more than 9,000 employees delivering home health services to 138 counties in the state.
