Event celebrates women in science

The 2019 Celebration of Science takes place Friday, Oct. 18, in the Ann Stuart Science Center Atrium beginning at 9 a.m. The poster session runs until 9:30 a.m., followed by a daylong schedule of distinguished speakers and TWU student research talks. This event is free and open to the public. Retired TWU Chancellor Ann Stuart established the Ann Stuart and Ray R. Poliakoff Celebration of Science series in 2011 with a $200,000 gift to the university.

“Celebration of Science is an opportunity for students, alumni, faculty, staff and community members to come together and celebrate the achievements of women in science,” said L. Patton Griffith, director of development for the TWU College of Arts and Sciences. “As we hear about our current students’ research and learn from a panel of experts within their respective fields, we will deepen our scientific knowledge and broaden our understanding of the world we live in. This event is one of the jewels of our campus, and I encourage all to attend.”
