Distinguished Professor Emerita Karen L. Peterson, PhD ’73, ’74 has spent her career studying the widespread presence of stress and the impact it has on children.
Her dedication to advancing the field has led this TWU alumna to establish the Dr. Karen L. Peterson Scholarship Endowment, which will support students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in child development in the College of Professional Education at Texas Woman’s University.
After earning her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in child development at TWU, Peterson completed her doctorate at Iowa State University. She then went on to pursue a career in academia spending the next 25 years on faculty at Washington State University Vancouver. During her tenure, she served as program director and child development specialist.
Peterson’s dedication to the study and improvement of early childhood development is reflected in her generosity with the establishment of this scholarship endowment, which will help aspiring child development professionals in their educational journey at Texas Woman’s.
