Alumna Kathleen Bradbury ’71, ’72 created a scholarship endowment as a tribute to her brother, Edward, who embarked on a career in healthcare as a nursing home orderly, transitioned to vocational nursing and eventually earned a Master of Science in Nursing.
Edward traveled all 50 states as a clinical educator followed by rewarding work in apheresis, the removal and separation of blood plasma to treat various diseases. Through this endowment, Kathleen hopes to provide financial assistance to nursing students at TWU’s Dallas campus who exhibit the same spirit of determination, resilience, and passion for nursing that defined her brother's remarkable career. Kathleen received her bachelor’s and master’s in library science from TWU. She had an extensive career as a librarian, retiring from the Fort Worth Public Library.
The first Edward George Scholarship recipient, Katelyn Terry, graduated from TWU in May 2024 and was accepted into the Nurse Residency program at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
