Texas Woman’s is getting into the spirit of Halloween with Boo at the U and the ASSET Staff Halloween Costume Contest.
The annual Boo at the U fall festival takes place 5-8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 24, on the Hubbard Hall lawn and gardens area. The event draws thousands of children and their families to the Denton campus for Trunk or Treating, carnival games, train rides, a haunted house and more. Admission is free, but attendees are encouraged to donate one canned good per person to support the TWU Food Pantry.
With thousands of people coming, we’re going to need candy. Lots of it. The Candy War competition, pitting departments against each other to see who can donate the most candy to the event, continues through Tuesday, Oct. 22. You can deliver candy directly to the Student Union office (room 209) until 5 p.m. that day, or email firstname.lastname@example.org to have Student Union Crew volunteers stop by your department office Oct. 21-22 to collect the candy donations.
The Spooktacular Staff Halloween Costume Contest, sponsored and hosted by ASSET (Association of Service and Support Employees of Texas Woman’s University), is 9:30 a.m. to noon, Thursday, Oct. 31, in the Stoddard Hall lobby. The university community is invited to attend the free event, but contestants must be permanent full- or part-time TWU staff members.
Refreshments and contest registration take place 9:30-10 a.m., with the contest beginning at 10. Prizes will be awarded for first- and second-place individual costumes, and first place for best group/department costumes. So use your imagination and get your ghoul on!
