Boo at the U calls for candy, volunteers

The annual Boo at the U fall festival is just a few weeks away, and organizers need volunteers to help make it a memorable night for Denton-area children and their families.

The event takes place 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, on the Hubbard Hall lawn and gardens area. It’s a hauntingly fun time for the Denton community, with a host of activities including Trunk or Treating, inflatables, games, ghost stories and more.

Of course, such an event takes a lot of set up, and that’s where you come in. Faculty and staff are asked to volunteer for set-up, clean-up, line control, carnival games and more. Sign up for a spot today!

Then, there’s candy. Lots of candy.

This year’s “call for candy” includes something new: a Candy War! This campus-wide competition pits departments against each other to see who can donate the most candy to the event. The winning department will receive a trophy and bragging rights for the semester. Candy may be delivered to the Student Union office (room 209), or, if your department would like to collect donations throughout the next two weeks, email and Student Union Crew volunteers will stop by your department office Oct. 21-22 to collect the candy donations.

Donations also will be accepted for the TWU Food Pantry. See the Food Pantry website for a list of needed items.
