The first “Bring Your Dog to Work” Day is Friday, May 24, and in addition to gaining a canine colleague for the day, pet parents and their pooches in Denton can take part in the inaugural Campus Dog Walk. Plus, there’s one more surprise.
But first, the rules and regs: Check with your immediate supervisor before bringing a pet to work. The dog must have been properly vaccinated and be fully house trained. You’ll have to clean up after your dog in the event of an “accident.” Check out the Pets at Work policy for more information.
New this year, faculty, staff and students in Denton can bring their four-legged friends out to the former golf course for a community dog walk from noon to 1 p.m. behind the ROTC building (former golf clubhouse). There will be designated half-mile and 1-mile walking paths, or feel free to just socialize. Dogs must be on a non-retractable leash, and you’ll need to bring plastic bags, a water bottle and special medications such as inhalers, an Epipen, etc. Water bowls and treats for dogs will be provided. No registration is necessary, but you will need to sign in to participate. There’s no charge to attend the event. For more information, contact Max Atkinson at firstname.lastname@example.org or x2940.
But wait; there’s more!
You could have your dog featured in the “Bring Your Dog to Work Day” story in upcoming issues of Inside TWU! Just as precious Paco is helping promote the story in this issue, your cute canine could be featured in stories for future events.
Future “Pets on Campus” days are June 28, Oct. 25, Nov. 22, and Dec. 13. Enter a photo of your fur baby for a chance to be the featured photo in the stories promoting those events. Here’s how:
- Photos should be of the dog(s) only
- Photos should be sized no smaller than 600px by 400px, or roughly 3in x 5 in
- Provide the dog’s name as well as your own; both dog and owner will be identified
One photo will be chosen at random for each “Bring Your Dog to Work Day” story. Send photos to TWUNews@twu.edu.
