Parking changes coming for Commencement

Family and friends of graduating students will come to the Denton campus for commencement May 10 and 11 for an important milestone in their loved ones’ lives. With all the construction on campus, administrators are taking steps to make their visit go as smoothly as possible.

Bell Avenue will be closed from Administration Drive to Chapel Drive in order to allow our graduates and their guests to cross the street safely. This portion of Bell will be closed both Friday and Saturday for commencement, so you’ll need to plan a different route to campus if you normally use this section of Bell.

The visitors’ lot at Bell Avenue and Administration Drive primarily will be designated as parking for those with disabilities. The south entrance of Pioneer Hall is accessible with a ramp and electronic door openers.

Department of Public Safety personnel will be on hand to direct traffic both vehicular and pedestrian.

Faculty and staff are asked to help make commencement parking a little easier by parking on the south end of campus. Parking on the second floor and above of the Oakland Complex parking garage will be available for free to all faculty and staff on the days of commencement ceremonies. The preferred areas for faculty and staff parking are shown in purple on the commencement parking map.
